Benefits and Opportunities
There are many benefits and opportunities available for interns at Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua Tree National Park does not provide pay or board for interns, but it does provide housing for interns while they are working. The location of the housing offers many recreation opportunities for interns while they are off duty. The accommodation is on the western edge of the park and has minimal visitors to the area. This allows interns to be secluded and enjoy the many trails that are in the area. The best benefit of taking an internship with Joshua Tree National Park is your ability to be trained in many NPS divisions. During my stay, I trained with the resource management, wayside, education, wildlife, social media, and maintenance divisions of the park. This allowed me to add to my resume new skills learned in each of the divisions I worked. By working with so many people in different divisions, I set up a network of reverences for myself that will benefit me in the future.
